DOUBLESPEAK, 2012
60 by 85 by 185 cm.
Foam, iron, paper, stuffed animals, textile, wood.
DOUBLESPEAK is often used to deliberately
mislead and deceive the audience. The aim of doublespeak (constructing words to disguise the real meaning) is not to even
modify people's ideas on a given subject, rather, it is to achieve conformity in the way that people act.
Doublespeak is often used in ADVERTISING ('"communication" = "propaganda"/ "efficient" = "profitable") and in the field of POLITICS ("serving the target" = "bombing"/ "crusade" = "war") whereas,
in the early days of the two concepts it was considered wrong to construct words to disguise meaning, this is now an accepted and established practice.
