Reproduction of frogs begins in early spring.
When male frogs find a female, they climb on
her back, so that they can fertilize her eggs as
she lays them. Male frogs have specially adapted
thumbs so that they can hang on the female’s
back, even if she gets bored and tries to hop
away.
In ancient Egypt frogs were sacred. Egyptians
thought frogs originated from the mind and thus
they had to know the secrets of life.
Male frogs call, females don’t. They do not have
external genitalia. The bulging eyes of frogs can
see in almost any directions. Frogs are carnivores.
